Its very useful for studying formal Japanese. Ignore the English translation though because its a mess.

this app really help
I love this app for Japanese listening practice, keeping up with day to day news and learning higher level vocabulary. Each day it automatically downloads about 15 or so short news clips. Choose the ones you want and listen along as you look at the written Japanese. You can also save the ones you like. For intermediate or advanced Japanese learners I think this is ideal. Im using it to help study for the N1 test. The only drawback is that the English translation is just run through some sort of translation program. This means that the English grammar is horrible but the key words are all there. I almost gave it 4 stars for this but since the price is low for such a useful app I still gave it 5. If there are any future updates Id like to see a better English translation and better ability to sort news types (politics, international, finance etc.). But overall its well worth the price.
